Louisiana print sheet with Baton Rouge as capital, New Orleans and the other big cities, and the borders of all 64 parishes, from the Sabine River to the mouth of the Mississippi.
What prints
Louisiana's boot shape prints with the toe pointing east along the Gulf: the "heel" is the Sabine River border with Texas, the top is the straight 33°N line with Arkansas, and the toe is the Florida Parishes and the Mississippi River delta reaching out past New Orleans. Louisiana is the one state that divides itself into parishes rather than counties, and all 64 parish borders are on the sheet. Along the Gulf the coastline is intricate, with bays, marsh and the delta's bird-foot channels, and the map keeps that detail because it is vector rather than raster. Baton Rouge carries the capital star on the east bank of the Mississippi. With Major cities on, the sheet adds New Orleans downstream, Shreveport on the Red River in the northwest, Lafayette in Acadiana, and Lake Charles near the Texas line.
Page orientation
The state is about 240 miles across at the Gulf and roughly 280 miles from Arkansas to the tip of the delta, but the wide southern section dominates. Either orientation works; landscape is slightly better because it gives the coast and the New Orleans area more width, and the delta reaches the right-hand margin instead of being crushed at the bottom. Choose portrait only if you want the northern parishes around Shreveport and Monroe printed larger.

- New Orleans, Shreveport, Lafayette, Lake Charles and Kenner on the Major cities layer.
- All 64 parish borders, from Caddo Parish in the northwest corner to Plaquemines Parish at the end of the delta.
- The Sabine River border with Texas, the Mississippi and Pearl river sections of the Mississippi border, the straight 33°N line with Arkansas, and the Gulf coast.
Parish names do not print. Exercises that suit the sheet: label Orleans Parish, trace the Mississippi from the Arkansas line to the Gulf, and shade the parishes that touch the coast. Use the Louisiana parish map to check. The blank Louisiana map has the outline only.
