Printable Michigan map
Both peninsulas of Michigan on one sheet, with Lansing, Detroit and the other big cities, all 83 county lines and the Great Lakes shoreline that surrounds the state.
What prints
Michigan is the awkward one to put on paper. The Lower Peninsula, the mitten, sits on a north–south axis, while the Upper Peninsula stretches roughly east–west above it, and the two are joined only by the five-mile Straits of Mackinac. The printed sheet keeps both peninsulas at the same scale so the Upper Peninsula is not shrunk into an inset. Around the land you get the shorelines of four Great Lakes: Superior along the top of the Upper Peninsula, Michigan down the west side of the mitten, Huron up the east side, and Erie for a short stretch in the southeast corner below Detroit. The 83 county boundaries print as fine lines, Lansing carries the capital star, and the Major cities layer adds Detroit, Grand Rapids, Warren, Sterling Heights and Ann Arbor. Isle Royale, the large island in Lake Superior, is part of Keweenaw County and prints with it.
Page orientation
Use portrait. The state runs about 400 miles from the Ohio line to the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, and about 380 miles from the Wisconsin border in the west of the Upper Peninsula to the Lake Huron shore, so it is almost square, but portrait leaves room at the bottom for the key table without squeezing the Upper Peninsula against the top margin. Landscape works if you only want the Lower Peninsula: zoom in on the mitten before pressing Print and the sheet will crop to whatever is on screen. The small counties of the Detroit area — Wayne, Oakland, Macomb — are the ones that suffer when the whole state is printed small, so if county detail matters, print on Legal or A3 paper.
Time zones on the sheet
Michigan is almost entirely on Eastern time, but the four Upper Peninsula counties that border Wisconsin — Gogebic, Iron, Dickinson and Menominee — keep Central time. That line is not drawn on the printed map; note it by hand if you are using the sheet for a time-zone lesson, or use the Eastern and Central zone maps instead.

- State name, abbreviation MI on the Abbreviations layer.
- Lansing as capital, in the south-central Lower Peninsula on the Grand River.
- Detroit, Grand Rapids, Warren, Sterling Heights and Ann Arbor on the Major cities layer.
- All 83 county borders in both peninsulas, including the water boundary counties along the lakeshores.
- The straight southern border with Ohio and Indiana, the Menominee River and surveyed line with Wisconsin, and the Great Lakes shorelines.
