Printable Maryland map

Maryland printed on one page with Annapolis as capital, Baltimore and the Washington suburbs, and its 23 counties plus Baltimore City around the Chesapeake Bay.

Baltimore City is independent of any county and prints as its own unit. Neighbours: Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia; Washington, DC lies inside the Potomac bend.

What prints

Maryland has one of the most awkward outlines in the country, and all of it prints: the long straight Mason–Dixon line on the north, the Potomac River twisting along the south and west to the thin panhandle near Hancock, where the state is under two miles wide, and the Chesapeake Bay splitting the state into the Western Shore and the Eastern Shore. The 23 counties and the independent city of Baltimore are drawn inside. Annapolis holds the capital star on the west side of the bay at the mouth of the Severn. The Major cities layer adds Baltimore, Columbia, Germantown, Silver Spring and Waldorf; the last four are census-designated places in the Baltimore–Washington corridor rather than incorporated cities. The bay's tributaries and the Eastern Shore's creeks print in vector detail.

Page orientation

From the West Virginia line at the western tip to the Atlantic at Ocean City, Maryland is about 250 miles long, but it is rarely more than 100 miles tall. Landscape is the right choice; it puts the whole panhandle-to-ocean span across the page and leaves the Chesapeake large in the centre. Portrait wastes the top and bottom of the sheet and squeezes the western panhandle to a thread.

What is labeled

Names of counties are omitted. Try marking the nine Eastern Shore counties, finding Montgomery and Prince George's counties beside the District of Columbia, and locating Garrett County at the far west. The Maryland county map is the answer sheet. The blank Maryland map shows the outline only.
