Colorado, the near-perfect rectangle, printed with Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora and the other Front Range cities and all 64 county borders on one page.
What prints
Colorado's outline is four straight surveyed lines, which makes the state easy to fit but also means the county borders carry most of the visual interest. The 64 counties break into two patterns on the sheet: large, roughly rectangular counties on the eastern plains and in the western plateau country, and a jumble of small irregular counties along the Front Range and in the mountains, where boundaries follow ridgelines and old mining districts. Denver is the capital star, tucked against the eastern foot of the mountains. Because Denver is also the largest city, the Major cities layer adds Colorado Springs, Aurora, Fort Collins and Lakewood — all on the Front Range, so the dots line up on a north-south strip just east of the 105th meridian.
Page orientation
Print in landscape. The state is about 380 miles east to west and 280 miles north to south, and a landscape sheet matches those proportions almost exactly. Portrait leaves a wide empty band above and below the map and shrinks the mountain counties — Gilpin, Clear Creek, Summit and their neighbours — to the point where their lines merge. On landscape Letter or A4 even Broomfield, the smallest county, is visible as a small notch north of Denver.

- All 64 county borders, from Moffat in the northwest corner to Baca in the southeast corner.
- The four straight state lines: 41°N with Wyoming and Nebraska, 37°N with Oklahoma and New Mexico, and the two meridians with Kansas and Utah.
A common use for this sheet is marking the Continental Divide, which wanders through the mountain counties from the Wyoming line to the New Mexico line, and tracing the Colorado, Arkansas, South Platte and Rio Grande rivers, all of which rise inside the state. Students can also mark the Four Corners in the extreme southwest. County names and seats are on the county map; the blank Colorado map is the same rectangle with nothing inside it.
