Neighbours: Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont; Quebec lies to the north.

What prints

New Hampshire is a tall wedge: wide along the Massachusetts line in the south, narrowing to a point at the Canadian border in the north. The printed outline shows the Connecticut River running the full length of the western border with Vermont — the state line is on the Vermont bank, so the river belongs to New Hampshire — the surveyed and partly river border with Maine on the east, the roughly straight Massachusetts line, and the 18 miles of Atlantic coast at the southeast corner between Seabrook and Portsmouth, the shortest ocean shoreline of any coastal state. Ten county borders sit inside. Concord is marked as capital on the Merrimack River in the south-central part of the state, and the Major cities layer adds Manchester just downstream, Nashua at the Massachusetts line, Derry and Dover.

Page orientation

Portrait — the state is about 180 miles tall and about 70 miles across at the widest, so it is more than twice as high as it is wide. It fills a Letter or A4 page nicely in portrait at a scale where even the small southeastern counties, Rockingham and Strafford, are clearly separated. Coös County in the north, the largest and most sparsely settled, takes up the top third.

What is labeled

The White Mountains, including Mount Washington at 6,288 feet — the highest point in the northeastern US — occupy the centre-north of the state but are not shaded on the plain map; the Streets layer shows the terrain, and the Appalachian Mountains map gives the wider context. Lake Winnipesaukee, the large lake in the middle of the state, is likewise only on Streets. Use the blank New Hampshire map for a label-free sheet and the county map for county names and seats.
