Printable New Jersey map
New Jersey on a single sheet: Trenton, Newark, Jersey City and the other big cities, 21 counties, the Delaware River border and the Atlantic shore from Sandy Hook to Cape May.
What prints
Almost all of New Jersey's boundary is water. The Delaware River runs the entire western side against Pennsylvania and then widens into Delaware Bay; the Atlantic Ocean forms the east; and the Hudson River, New York Harbor and the Kill Van Kull separate the northeast from New York City. Only the short northern border with New York State, a straight surveyed line from the Delaware to the Hudson, is drawn across land. The printed page shows all of that plus the 21 county borders, which are small in the north and large in the Pine Barrens counties of the south (Burlington, Ocean, Atlantic). Trenton is marked as the capital on the Delaware; Newark, Jersey City, Paterson and Elizabeth appear on the Major cities layer, all four of them within 15 miles of each other in the northeast.
Page orientation
Portrait. New Jersey is about 170 miles long from High Point in the northwest to Cape May and about 70 miles across at its widest, so it stands tall on the page. The difficulty is the northeast corner: at whole-state scale the four largest cities crowd into an area about the size of a thumbprint, and Hudson County — the smallest and densest county — prints barely larger than the capital star. For a legible metro sheet, zoom to Newark before printing.
What is labeled
- State name and the abbreviation NJ.
- Trenton as the capital, in Mercer County.
- Newark, Jersey City, Paterson and Elizabeth on the Major cities layer.
- All 21 county borders, from Sussex in the northwest to Cape May at the southern tip.
- The Delaware River and Bay, the Atlantic coast, the Hudson, and the straight New York line.
New York City is not on the printed sheet even though it sits directly across the Hudson from Jersey City — the map only labels cities in the highlighted state. If you want the metropolitan context, the New York City map shows both sides of the river. The Jersey Shore's barrier islands print as thin slivers along the coast. The blank New Jersey map gives the outline alone, and the county map lists the 21 counties and seats.
